CBD 101

A beginner's guide to cannabidiol.

What Is CBD ?

CBD is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in hemp. The discovery of cannabidiol revolutionised the cannabis landscape by allowing people to experience the power of the plant without the psychoactive effects of THC. The discovery pushed the needle towards national acceptance of cannabis. Today, researchers study CBD for its wide range of uses for the body and mind.
Is CBD oil legal in Malaysia ?
The Ministry of Health has announced that the use of some medicines containing CBD next year will be allowed. However, CBD products are only available for medical purposes
Is CBD safe ?
Yes, cannabinoids are generally well tolerated by most people and you cannot overdose on CBD. Drowsiness is the most common side effect. CBD does interact with certain medications, so if you are on any prescriptions, consult your doctor before trying CBD.
Do I need a prescription ?
Yes. In Malaysia you need prescription from the doctor to access CBD-related medicine.

Potential Benefits Of CBD

Due to the unique body chemistry of each individual, CBD may initially have varied effects that are felt over time. We advise using the same dosage for 1-2 weeks while monitoring the results. If you do not get the desired effects, up the dose amount or dosage frequency until you find the right combination for you.

Cannabinoids

A class of chemical substances known as cannabinoids can be discovered in the Cannabis sativa plant. They can interact with endocannabinoid receptors in the body to have a variety of therapeutic effects. Over 120 cannabinoids have been identified so far, and many more are still undiscovered.

How Does CBD Work ?

CBD aids in endocannabinoid system regulation. The ECS is a signalling network in the body that controls immunological function, mood, memory, appetite, pain, and stress. This explains why a variety of physiological systems are affected by cannabis.
Endocannabinoid System
Researchers studying how THC interacts with the human body in the early 1990s initially discovered that everyone has an ECS, even if they have never used cannabis in their lives. Before cannabis was made legal, hemp and marijuana were used to cure a number of ailments, such as epilepsy, migraines, arthritis, pain, depression, and nausea. While it's possible that traditional healers were unaware of the plant's mechanism of action, their observations of its effectiveness laid the groundwork for later scientific research. Following the discovery of the ECS, which revealed a biological basis for the therapeutic effects of plant cannabinoids, interest in cannabis as a medicine has increased once more.
CB1 Receptors
The central nervous system contains the majority of CB1 receptors.

Common CB1 receptors can help to control:

-Adrenal Gland
-Brain
-Digestive Tract
-Fat Cells
-Kidneys
-Liver Cells
-Lungs
-Muscle Cells
-Pituitary Gland
-Spinal Cord
-Thyroid Gland
CB2 Receptors
Your peripheral nervous system has CB2 receptors, particularly in immune cells.

Common CB2 receptors can help to control:

-Bone
-Brain
-Cardiovascular System
-Digestive Tract
-GI Tract
-Immune System
-Liver cells
-Nervous System
-Pancreas
-Peripheral Tissues
-Spleen

The Entourage Effect

Since full spectrum products are frequently linked to the entourage effect, many customers prefer them. This word refers to the proof from experience that all of the plant's constituents—cannabinoids, terpenes, etc.—work synergistically to provide a well-rounded impact on the body.

Terpenes

Over 100 different terpenes have been identified, and they play a key role in differentiating the aroma and effects of each strain. Some terpenes will give the hemp a relaxing, sedative effect, while other terpenes will give strains an uplifting, motivating effect.

Bioavailability

The level of bioavailability, or how much of a chemical reaches the bloodstream in a specific amount of time, varies depending on how CBD is consumed. This might assist you in figuring out how much to consume and in what form to make sure the right dosage really enters your system.

CBD Product Types

The full spectrum, broad spectrum, and CBD isolate are the three main types.
Although the terminology may appear difficult to the outsider, they are easy to distinguish once you have learnt them.

Full Spectrum CBD

Full spectrum CBD products also include terpenes and other cannabinoids, as well as a negligible amount of THC (0.3%).

Broad Spectrum CBD

Broad spectrum CBD
THC is not included in broad  spectrum CBD products, but they do contain terpenes, cannabinoids, and other plant-based substances.

CBD Isolate

Pure CBD or another isolated cannabinoid, such as CBG and CBN, constitutes isolate. It contains no additional hemp chemicals or cannabinoids, and it is totally free of THC.
One plant, hundreds solution.
